Texas Hold'em typically includes 2-10 players.
The aim is to make the best possible 5-card poker hand using the community cards and your own pocket cards.
There are 4 betting rounds - preflop, flop, turn and river where players can check, call, raise or fold.
Each player is dealt two hole or pocket cards face down.
There are 5 community cards - 3 cards are dealt on the flop followed by 1 card on the turn and the last card on the river. These cards are shared among all players.
Button, small blind, big blind, under the gun, hijack, cut-off etc depending on number of players. Early positions have more opportunities.
Preflop - only bets and calls allowed. Flop - betting starts from left of button. Turn/River - betting starts from last aggressor or first player if no aggressor.
Play strong starting hands like AK, AQ, KQ etc from early positions and loosen up as play progresses to late positions.
Bluff with draws on later streets when opponents are likely to fold better hands or when there is potential to steal the pot. Pick spots carefully.
Develop strategies for different position, stack size, opponents tendencies etc and adjust dynamically.
Play tightly against aggressive opposition and vice versa. Consider stacks, your image and game flow before applying pressure. aggression needs to be randomized.
